Description
- Difficulty: medium
- Implementation: required; good JavaScript skills needed
- Paper possibilities: quite OK, maybe workshop on mathematical user interfaces, deadline May 2010
We have developed a framework for interactive mathematical documents, which you can see in action here. So far, one can look up the definitions of unknown mathematical symbols in a database that we maintain. However, as there is a lot of mathematical knowledge on the web (e.g. Wikipedia, MathWorld, PlanetMath), it would make sense to make that knowledge immediately accessible from documents.
The task is
- to develop a way of establishing links from our own resources of mathematical knowledge to those external sources
- to create a user interface for making this external information available on request
